A little bit
of our
story....
How It All Began
Both Kirsten and Tony will tell you how they felt 'different' throughout their lives. However, growing up in a neurotypical world, they internalised and masked their divergence. This came at the cost of their mental health, and led to exploration of their own neurotypes. They collectively agreed that with childhood support and empowerment, life would have taken a very different trajectory.
The Burrows was first conceptualised in 2019, with the aim of not leaving any autistic person or ADHDer behind. Now after five years of hard work and dedication, Kirsten and Tony are delighted to share their little haven amongst the trees, and hope all clients can find a sense of safety, and calm during their visit.

How The Burrows Got It's Name
The Burrows is surrounded by an abundance of nature, including native flora, fauna, and in particular our winged, chatty friend the Kookaburra. We've spent hours listening to the call of a local Kookie family, morning and night. In the spring you might even catch a glimpse of mum and dad flying back and forward to the nesting box, or a young fledgling learning to hunt and fly.
Kookaburras nest in tree hollows, or in burrows they excavate from termite mounds on trees. That's why it seemed fitting to make our logo a Kookaburra, and name our special place after their home. After all, just as we share The Burrows with the traditional owners and caretakers of the land, so we do with the wildlife we live amongst.
We hope that you enjoy spending time in nature, just as we do.
